About This Location

[Description] Cheonggyecheon is an 11-kilometer-long modern public stream flowing through the heart of downtown Seoul. Originally a natural stream that was covered with concrete and an elevated highway in the 1950s, it was restored in 2005 as a landmark urban renewal project. Today, it serves as a serene ecological park, featuring stepped stone paths, small waterfalls, and artistic lighting that creates a romantic atmosphere at night. The stream is a popular cultural hub, hosting various seasonal events such as the Seoul Lantern Festival. Its tranquil waters and lush greenery provide a refreshing escape from the surrounding skyscrapers, blending Seoul’s historical heritage with contemporary urban life. It is the perfect destination for a peaceful stroll, offering a unique perspective on the city's architectural and natural harmony. [How to Get There] The stream is easily accessible from multiple subway stations in central Seoul. The most popular starting point, Cheonggye Plaza, is a 3-minute walk from Gwanghwamun Station (Line 5, Exit 5) or City Hall Station (Line 1 or 2, Exit 4). If you wish to visit the eastern sections, you can use Jongno 3-ga Station (Line 1, 3, or 5) or Dongdaemun Station (Line 1 or 4). Numerous city buses also stop near the various bridges crossing the stream. As it is a long linear park, walking is the best way to explore its diverse sections.
