About This Location

[Description] Gamgodang-gil is a charming 440-meter-long pedestrian-friendly walkway that connects Anguk-dong to Samcheong-dong. The street is named after "Gamgodang," the historic residence of Queen Inhyeon (the consort of King Sukjong of the Joseon Dynasty) and the birthplace of Empress Myeongseong, which once stood in this area. Flanked by the picturesque stone walls of Duksung Girls' High School and Pungmoon High School, the road offers a nostalgic and tranquil atmosphere. The street is famous for its artistic vibe, featuring unique murals, craft workshops, and small boutiques. It gained significant popularity as a filming location for famous Korean dramas like Goblin. As a designated "Car-Free Street" during weekends, it serves as a peaceful cultural corridor where visitors can enjoy street performances and craft markets, blending the profound history of the Joseon royal family with the trendy, creative energy of modern Seoul. [How to Get There] The most convenient way to reach the street is via the Seoul Metro. Take Line 3 to Anguk Station and use Exit 1. From the exit, walk straight for about 2 minutes and turn right at the corner of the Pungmoon High School building to enter the starting point of the walkway. Many city buses also stop at the "Anguk Station, Jongno Police Station" or "Deokseong Girls' High School" stations, both of which are just a short walk from the entrance of Gamgodang-gil.
