[Description] Jeongdong-gil, often referred to as "Deoksugung Stonewall Walkway," is a historic 900-meter-long road in central Seoul that serves as a living museum of Korea’s modern history. Lined with picturesque stone walls and century-old weeping scholar trees, it was the first area in Korea to host foreign legations, churches, and modern educational institutions in the late 19th century. The street is characterized by its unique blend of traditional Korean architecture, such as Deoksugung Palace, and Western-style red-brick buildings like the Chungdong First Methodist Church and the former Russian Legation. Known for its romantic atmosphere, especially during the vibrant autumn foliage season, Jeongdong-gil offers a peaceful cultural retreat. It remains a beloved urban landmark where visitors can contemplate the complex transition of the Joseon Dynasty into the modern era amidst a serene, artistic setting. [How to Get There] The most popular way to start the walk is from City Hall Station (Line 1 or 2). Take Exit 1, 2, or 12, and the entrance to the stonewall walkway is located right next to the main gate of Deoksugung Palace (Daehanmun). Alternatively, you can take Line 5 to Seodaemun Station (Exit 5) and walk toward the Jeongdong Theater to explore the street from the opposite end. Many city buses stop at the "City Hall" or "Seoul Museum of Art" stations, making it highly accessible from any part of downtown Seoul.
